Hello everyone and welcome to a wonderful year of workshops here at Madonna and also at Olivet college!
We had a wonderful workshop with Randy DeLelles, Saturday, September 26th with approximately 65 people in attendance!!
Did you know that DOSA (our very own chapter) just had it's 40th anniversary? Our very own Peg VanHaaren (one of our founding members) reminded me of this fact just recently.) Congratulations DOSA and Peg and thank you Peg!!!
I'm happy to announce DOSA now has a full board for leadership!!
| Past President | Mary Jo Baynes | |
| President | Shirley Case | |
| Vice President | Vickilyn Withrow | |
| Membership | Lorelei Zwiernickowski | |
| Secretary | Judith Thompson-Barthwell | |
| Treasurer | Deborah Brokaw |
I'm also happy to announce we now have a librarian, Valerie Delekta! Valerie has worked at a few libraries in the past so our chapter's library is in good hands. The DOSA library has reopened as of Saturday, September 26th. If you still need to return books or videos you've borrowed please do so and if you are member feel free to check out books and videos available in our library. Valerie will explain the simple procedure to you.
We also need a person to help Laura Draper with setting up the coffee for hospitality. I'm pretty sure Becky Ventura would be happy to have a regular assistant in getting out our instumentarium. Coleen Walker has been a big help with our website over the the past few years and I want to make sure we thank you, Coleen, for all you help with our website. Melissa Angstadt and her husband, Mike, have volunteered to help out with the website!
We're looking forward to a fantastic series of workshops this year!! A big thank you to Marc Meyers for lining up the presenters we have this year!
Doug Goodkin, Saturday, October 17th, "Intery Mintery: Nursery Rhymes for Body, Voice and Orff Ensemble."
Different location Olivet College - Margaret Upton Conservation of Music Building.
Three Orff chapters are joining together to help host Doug Goodkin at Olivet College (near Marshall, Michigan).
This workshop will be a full day workshop running from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Doug Goodkin is an internationally recognized teacher of Orff Schulwerk, having taught courses in over 35 countries worldwide.
It should be fantastic!
All chapters attending are asking for volunteers to bring some nice snack food to snack on throughout the workshop.
We have a signup sheet for snacks.
Our chapter is in charge of setting up the hospitality and clean up afterwards.
Lunch will be offered at the Dining Hall at a variety of prices. Some of you may want to carpool.
We have a sign up sheet for carpooling.
Some of you may want to stay overnight the night near Marshall the night before.
There are a variety of places to stay near Olivet. Here are the places I believe are closest to Olivet College:
| The National House Inn | Marshall | A lovely Bed and Breakfast in nearby Marshall, prices $117 and up | 269-781-7374 | |
| Quality Inn and Suites | Battle Creek | Prices recently were $99.95 and up | 269-964-3000 | |
| Comfort Inn | Marshall | Prices in August were $100 and up | 269-789-7890 |
Back to our calendar of events and workshops -
AOSA National Conference November 11-14, 2009
A fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in many workshops
with fantastic presenters from the USA and around the world, hear many wonderful performances;
and to meet, sing, dance and play with many like minded music teachers, musicians and lovers of Orff Schulwerk.
If you're interested in carpooling to the conferences and/or are in need of a roommate this is a good place
to try to get connected regarding those needs.

DOSA Chapter Share March 6, 2010
Fellow teachers share/present a favorite lesson or a few,
followed by a delicious potluck and a special 40th anniversary celebration for our chapter.
Please let me know if you're interested in presenting at our chapter share.
It's a wonderful opportunity to present a few of your favorite lessons in a safe, supportive environment among friends.
Lynn Koch, April 17, "Percussion Profusion"
We have more information on our presenters on our DOSA flyers and on our website.
Wishing you a wonderful year of teaching! Another year to share your passion for music, the Orff process, children and adults with opportunities to bring joy and beauty to the lives of many.
Peace and blessings,
