March 5th - Amy Fenton

Recorder in the Orff Schulwerk Classroom

Believe it or not, teaching beginning recorder can be fun for all! In this workshop, participants will explore recorder experiences from the beginning stages through improvisation. We'll begin with strategies for exploring the recorder. Blowing, breathing, and sound games lead to the basics of recorder in a playful way. Once the basics are in place, we quickly move on and integrate the recorder with the other Orff media. We'll also explore ways to encourage improvisation. Please bring soprano and alto recorders, and be ready to sing, say, dance and play!
